Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged the public to immediately submit their 2022 Annual Tax Return (SPT). In addition, Jokowi reminded the Director General of Taxes, Suryo Utomo, to improve services.
“The president also reminded the deadline for submission of SPT, and also reminded the Director General of Taxes to improve services to taxpayers,” Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President Bey Machmudin, told reporters, Thursday (9/3/2023).
Bey explained that every year there is always a request from the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance for Jokowi to socialize SPT submission. Jokowi wants this year to be something different.
“Usually the President fills out SPTs electronically at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, this year he visited KPP Pratama Surakarta to see first hand activities at the Tax office ahead of March 31 2023. The President also wants to know why there are still people who take SPTs to the tax office, not electronically. “added Bey.
“Apparently someone forgot password, or some are not sure about the calculations so they feel the need to ask about tax calculations, and so on, “continued Bey.
Previously, Jokowi visited the Pratama Solo Tax Service Office (KPP). Jokowi was surprised when he saw the queue at the tax office.
“Today’s afternoon I came to the Surakarta KPP to check in person the submission of the 2023 SPT. I was surprised there were still many queues, even though we can go online from home,” Jokowi told reporters at KPP Pratama Solo, as reported by Antara. detikJatengThursday (9/3).
Jokowi revealed that taxpayers want to ensure that the data filled in is correct so they come directly to the location.
“It turns out that taxpayers really want to make sure that what is filled in is correct, because they are not sure that they were brought here, asked, and then paid,” he explained.
Present with Jokowi during the visit were Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Deputy Mayor of Solo Teguh Prakosa.
