Spotify turns the optics inside out. Gone are the days when you could scroll through dozens of album covers. The new design is more reminiscent of platforms like Instagram or even TikTiok. We have found out for you what is behind the new design of Spotify.
New design to make Spotify more interactive
Above all, Spotify wants to achieve one thing with the new design: more interaction. Traditionally, you’ve been able to pull up Spotify, scroll through a few album covers, and then listen to music. With the new design, the streaming giant wants to point out all the other content that it still has to offer.
The main focus is on a lot of image content and vertical scrolling – and is more reminiscent of TikTok or Instagram than conventional music streaming services:
So the idea is clear: the new look should help you to discover new things.
And that’s no coincidence: In recent years, the company has invested heavily to be more than just a music app. Spotify wants to conquer the market with live audio or audio books. Podcasts shouldn’t be forgotten either – and some news has been announced in this regard as well.
New tools for podcasts
It becomes immediately clear that they want to expand the podcast area. Because: The features that were previously withheld from anchor users, such as Q&A sessions or surveys, are now to be made accessible to all users. In addition, video podcasts are to be released for more podcasters.
A new dashboard that clearly displays all features and options has been launched for this purpose. In addition, free hosting is offered for everyone. Podcasters hosted on Spotify can also access recording and editing tools, video uploads, and monetization features.
Finally, there are a few new features that should also help when discovering new podcasts:
- Podcast previews – excerpts land directly in the home feed
- Chapters can be added for more structure
- Spotify Labs offers workshops for podcasters
- A new Page with tips and guides is online
