The day after the election of the party leader at the convention
A clear temperature difference in CEO Kim Ki-hyun
On the 9th, Rep. Cheol-soo Ahn, who ran for the party representative election and failed, announced on the 9th, “We must leave behind the fierce competition and now become one team.”
Rep. Ahn said in a text message sent to all party members that day, “I humbly accept the choice of our party members.” He continued, “I send generous support to the leadership of the new party representative Kim Ki-hyun,” and said, “I will also do my best to devote myself to the harmony of the party.”
Rep. Ahn said, “I express my gratitude and apologies to those who supported me until the end, who had just entered the party,” and said, “I will not break down and become stronger to live up to that expectation.” Rep. Ahn plans to hold a camp disbanding ceremony on the 10th and encourage the campaign staff and supporters.
Rep. Ahn went beyond accepting defeat and sent support to CEO Kim and emphasized the ‘one team’ to prevent the party’s image from hardening into non-Yoon Seok-yeol, and to wait for the right time while keeping the stake of unifying the presidential candidate and the chairman of the presidential transition committee. It is expected that the mode will change from confrontation while strongly criticizing the intervention of the presidential office at the end of the party convention to harmony. An official from Rep. Ahn’s side said in a phone call, “The purpose of the party members’ choice is not to fight, but to do well. If you deny that, you are denying the party members,” he said.
Cheon Ha-ram, the chairman of the Sunchun-gap party committee in South Jeolla Province, who failed with Candidate Ahn, expressed his gratitude to his supporters, but there was a clear temperature difference in his stance on ‘Kim Ki-hyun’s leadership’.
Chairman Cheon said to the social network service (SNS), “It was a month like a miracle. There were people who warmly welcomed each scene. Thanks to that, I can love politics more.” He said, “It would be enough if someone parasitized on power and gained a sense of confidence for a while, but we chose not to do that.” It is interpreted as an indirect criticism of CEO Kim, who was elected with overwhelming support from the presidential office and pro-Yun Seok-yeol factions. He said to his supporters, “I ask you to continue to go together without getting tired.”
Chairman Cheon said on KBC Gwangju Broadcasting that day <백운기의 시사1번지>Even when he appeared on the show, he said, “For those who don’t want to see CEO Kim, Lee Jun-seok, and Chun Ha-ram, it’s easy. Just do better politics than Chun Ha-ram.”
At the People’s Power National Convention held the day before, CEO Kim was elected as the representative with a majority vote of 52.93%. Rep. Ahn followed with 23.37%, Chairman Chun with 14.98%, and Hwang Kyo-an, former representative of the Future United Party (predecessor of People’s Power), with 8.72%.
