The outage prevented Instagram from loading content such as posts from the feed and stories. Users have seen messages such as “Failed to refresh feed” and “Failed to load posts”. Other users see messages that their devices are not connected to the internet when opening Instagram, even though they are connected.
According to DownDetector, the first reports of outages affecting Instagram occurred around 8:30 p.m. ET. On Twitter, many users are also complaining that Instagram is currently not working. There is even a hashtag #InstagramDown it’s trending in some parts of the world.
Interestingly, other users were able to access Instagram as usual despite the error messages. Instagram was also hit by another major outage last month that prevented users from creating new posts or stories.
Instagram has yet to confirm the outage. We will update this article once the platform details the issues or the outage is resolved.
