The fate of the appeal verdict of the former Kadiv Propam Polri Freddy Sambo For the death sentence in the premeditated murder case against his aide, Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat is only one month away from being arrested. Sambo’s appeal decision will be read out by the panel of judges at the Jakarta High Court on April 12 2023 openly to the public.
Sambo is not alone in filing an appeal. Three other defendants, namely Sambo’s wife, Putri Candrawathi, then Sambo’s family driver, Strong Ma’ruf, and Sambo’s former aide, First Brigadier Ricky Rizal, also resisted the sentences they received.
For your information, Freddy Sambo et al were found guilty of premeditated murder of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat. The following is the verdict and demands for the defendants in the Joshua murder case:
1. Ferdy Sambo was sentenced to life imprisonment, sentenced to death
2. Putri Candrawathi was prosecuted for 8 years in prison, sentenced to 20 years in prison
3. Strong Ma’ruf was prosecuted for 8 years in prison, sentenced to 15 years in prison
4. Bripka Ricky Rizal was prosecuted for 8 years in prison, sentenced to 13 years in prison
5. Bharada Richard Eliezer was prosecuted for 12 years in prison, sentenced to 1.5 years in prison (No appeal).
Appeal file Freddy Sambo is currently being handled by the panel of judges at the Jakarta High Court. Sambo’s appeal verdict will be read on April 12, 2023.
“The decision will be read out at a hearing that is open to the public on Wednesday April 12 2023 in the courtroom at the Jakarta High Court building,” PT Jakarta Binsar Pamopo Pakpahan’s Public Relations Officer told detikcomWednesday (8/3/2023).
Not only Ferdy Sambo, on the same day PT Jakarta will also decide on an appeal against Putri Candrawathi, Strong Ma’ruf and Ricky Rizal.
Binsar explained that currently the panel of judges had started examining the file. The judge will consult to make a decision.
“Criminal matters appealed on behalf of the Defendants Freddy Sambo and friends have been received and registered, and have even been handled by the appointed panel of judges,” said Binsar.
“Studying the case files has started and then the panel of judges will deliberate to make a decision,” he added.
