This Tuesday, March 7, the Mexican authorities confirmed the discovery of the four Americans kidnapped last Friday, in the border city of Matamoros, in the northern state of Tamaulipas.
According to the official report, two of them were dead and another wounded, informed the state governor, Américo Villarreal.
“35 minutes ago it was confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office (that) of the four (Americans) there are two dead, one person injured and the other alive,” Villareal explained in a live call during the morning conference of the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador. .
The president expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of US citizens.
“We are very sorry that this is happening in our country and we send our condolences to the families of the victims, friends, the people of the United States and their Government and we will continue doing our job,” said the dignitary.
Four Americans kidnapped
The kidnapping occurred on March 3 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, for its acronym in English, people from the US were traveling in a white van with North Carolina license plates.
“Shortly after crossing into Mexico, unidentified gunmen shot the passengers of the vehicle. They put the four US citizens into another vehicle and fled the scene with them,” he said in a statement.
The US ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, narrated some details about the kidnapping of his fellow citizens. He specified that a Mexican died in the incident.
