Essam Abdel Fattah, the former Egyptian referee, revealed that there are 4 main goals that push referees to increase the lost time in matches, the most important of which is achieving more justice.
Abdel-Fattah explained in an interview with “In the Goal”: The goal of increasing stoppage time is to increase the actual match time, achieve more justice, and help the referee control the match.
And he explained the cases that require stopping the counting of time, such as “treating the players inside the stadium and celebrating the goals, and each celebration counts for a minute, and the substitutions are 30 seconds each, and the methods of some clubs in wasting time.”
The former Egyptian referee confirmed that there is a continuous exchange of opinions between all referees, leading to the final decision determined by the main referee, as he is the final decision-maker.
