India to send 20,000 metric tons of wheat to Afghanistan through Iran port | Madhyamam

New Delhi: India announced new aid to Afghanistan. India will provide 20,000 metric tonnes of wheat as aid to Afghanistan through Iran port. The situation in the war-torn country was discussed extensively in the first meeting of the India-Central Asia Joint Working Group on Afghanistan held in Delhi.

The joint statement said the meeting emphasized the importance of creating a political structure that respects the rights of all Afghans and ensures equal rights, including access to education, for women, girls and members of minority groups. India has criticized the Taliban’s decision to ban university education for women in Afghanistan.

The countries participating in the meeting emphasized that Afghanistan’s territory should not be used for harboring, training, planning or financing any terrorist activities, and they reiterated that no terrorist organizations should be given sanctuary or allowed to use the territory.

Apart from host India, senior officials of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also participated in the meeting.
