Officials from the Investigative, Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) arrested the mother of the two children who died on August 25, in the Primero de Mayo sector of El Cementerio, Santa Rosalía parish, Libertador municipality, Caracas, after verifying that it caused the death of the little ones.
Through his Instagram account, the director of the Cicpc, Duglas Rico, identified the apprehended as Sacharit Yeraldin Escalona Díaz (24).
Rico recalled that the two children, a five-year-old with a motor disability and a two-year-old, burned to death inside their home.
He murdered his two young children.
He indicated that officials of the Scientific Police, through special expertise in criminalistics, determined that said fire was caused.
When delving into the investigations, it was determined that the mother of the minors, Escalona Díaz, sprayed the children and belongings of the house with oil, and then ignited it and fled the place.
Despite the efforts of the neighbors to save the lives of the children, the fire managed to carbonize everything that was found.
The arrest of Escalona Díaz took place in El Cementerio, Los Sin Techos sector, Santa Rosalía parish. He was left to the order of the Public Ministry.

It should be remembered that the initial version of the event showed that the victims, Valeria Escalona Gil (5) and Josué Escalona Gil (2) were left alone in the house.
The mother of the minors was not at home, as she had gone out to get water a few blocks from the site.
The father was working in the El Cementerio market.
Residents of the area came to hear the screams of the little ones. However, the neighbors were unable to get them out of the house.
According to sources from the Capital District Fire Department, the fire was caused by a short circuit in a fan in the room where the infants were.
The flames spread throughout the room and the children were charred to death.
