Pyongyang –
North Korea (North Korea) gave a terrible threat if the United States (US) interfered with the missile test. The threat was made by North Korea in the middle of US military exercises with South Korea (South Korea).
Reported Associated Press, Tuesday (7/3/2023), North Korea first protested strongly after the US flew a nuclear-capable B-52 bomber over the Korean Peninsula. The aircraft was sent by the US to participate in joint military exercises with South Korean warplanes.
The militaries of Washington and Seoul are also preparing to resume their largest field drills later this month. The flight of the B-52 bombers over the Korean Peninsula was the latest in a series of joint US and South Korean air drills involving advanced and powerful US aircraft.
The US is known to have deployed B-1B bombers to the Korean Peninsula several times since earlier this year. South Korea also said the air drills demonstrated the ability of the two countries to respond decisively to potential North Korean aggression.
On Friday (3/3) last week, the US and South Korean militaries announced they would hold a computer-simulated command post training on March 13-23. They also want to hold another big field exercise like they did in 2018.
The two allied countries have canceled or reduced their regular drills since 2018 to support stalemate diplomatic efforts with Pyongyang and guard against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The US and South Korea then resumed joint military exercises after North Korea conducted a number of missile tests last year. Moreover, North Korea has openly threatened to use nuclear weapons in a potential conflict with its enemies.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry later criticized the flight of the B-52 bomber. North Korea regards it as a reckless provocation that is pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula ‘deeper and deeper into the abyss’.
Pyongyang also insisted there was “no guarantee that there will not be violent physical conflict” if US-South Korean military provocations continued.
Additionally, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, threatened “swift and extraordinary action” against the US and South Korea expanding their joint military exercises, including the deployment of US bombers to the Korean Peninsula.
“We keep an eye on the restless military movements by US troops and South Korean military puppets and are always on standby to take appropriate, prompt and extraordinary measures at any time according to our judgment,” Kim Yo Jong said in a statement. Associated Press.
He did not explain in more detail about the “action” he meant. But Pyongyang frequently conducts missile tests in response to US-South Korean military drills that it sees as a rehearsal for an invasion of North Korea.
“The demonstrative military moves and all kinds of rhetoric put out by the US and South Korea, which are so confused that they need attention, have undoubtedly created conditions in which (North Korea) was forced to do something to overcome it,” said Kim Yo Jong.
