Gulf academic Abdul Khaleq Abdullah said, “Lebanon has entered a dark tunnel, and I regret to say that it will not emerge from this tunnel soon.”
And in an interview on “Spot Shot” within the Point of View program, he considered that “the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, is the candidate of the party state of Iran in Lebanon, and there is Christian objection to him, as the largest presidential complex in Lebanon lies in the southern suburbs.”
He added, “Lebanon has turned into ruin under Hezbollah’s control over it, as it is the protector of corruption.”
And he continued, “Perhaps the Emirati openness to Syria will lead to a breakthrough in the Lebanese file, and I am against giving Bashar al-Assad a presidential friend in Beirut as a kind of barter with other files.”
He pointed out that “the return of the Emirati ambassador to Lebanon is currently out of the question, and the UAE’s embrace of President Saad Hariri is a purely humanitarian matter.”
Abdullah concluded by saying: “The southern suburbs are the current political capital of Lebanon, and when this matter changes, there will be great Arab support for Lebanon and a Gulf return to its borders.”
