YouTube will stop overlay ads during videos from April – IT Pro – News

I sometimes watch youtube via my chromecast, which I have no adblock on, but then you are confronted with the facts about how incredibly unusable youtube has become without an adblocker.

I have adblock enabled on my PC. Sometimes I sometimes think “hmm, actually not so cool for the youtubers that I do like something” but this way I just really don’t have to

I buy from those few select youtubers who really put effort into their content or a shirt or something, then I compensate thousands of videos in adblock

More and more youtubers are also switching to built-in, own, ads and I’m really just for it. They are (usually) much more relevant to the viewer. youtube still fails really badly in correctly judging what kind of advertising is interesting to me, but youtubers know their audience pretty well. moreover, they are much better integrated. Youtube’s general commercials have those filthy annoying music playing in the background and a completely different volume. Then I much prefer an uninteresting story about a product that doesn’t interest me, but in the same style as the rest of the video. That is much more bearable.
