To deal with weather contingencies, the Government of Güémez installed the Municipal Council of Civil Protection
Guemez, Tam.– To deal with any contingency that may arise, the city council that presides Lorenzo Morales Amaro and sectors involved reactivated the Municipal Civil Protection Council.
The foregoing was held in an extraordinary session of the town council with the assistance of representatives of the Secretaries of Health and Public Safety (State Guard) of the State Government, municipal officials and civil society organizations.
“We hope they don’t show up, but we declare ourselves ready for any emergency for the rest of the year,” said the mayor.
With this action, Güémez replicates the creation of the State Civil Protection Council, recently installed by Governor Américo Villareal Anaya, and of which the municipal body is a part.
The president said that, even when they work regularly all year round, they will have to review plans and programs for prevention, aid and support for the population in cases of emergency or disasters such as fires, which are the most common in the region.
The Municipal System is prepared to respond to risk and high-risk situations, including the implementation of shelters for victims of phenomena such as hurricanes, heavy rains, droughts, hot and cold waves.
It was established that the local emergency unit receives collaboration and works very closely with State Civil Protection, an instance that also makes preparations for the fire season.
Güémez, like 22 other municipalities, is a region vulnerable to forest disasters. In 2022 there were nine events between moderate and large magnitude.
In the same council session, the Municipal System for the Comprehensive Protection of Boys, Girls and Adolescents (SIPINNA) was installed, appointing Professor Emiliana Reyes Portales as Executive Secretary of said body.
