The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed they have been invited to the historic event.
However, the couple has not indicated in their official statement whether they plan to attend the coronation of King Charles in person, leaving fans and the public still in the dark.
A spokesman for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told GB News: “I can confirm that the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Highness’s Office regarding the coronation.”
“We will not be making an immediate decision as to whether the Duke and Duchess will attend at this time.”
It has been revealed that if Harry and Meghan choose to attend the historic event in England, they will be allowed to stay in their Frogmore cottage until the end of the celebrations. As is known, last week it was reported that King Charles decided to expropriate this property from his son, which was given to his grandson at his wedding in 2018 by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The king has ordered his youngest son and his wife to vacate Frogmore Cottage within weeks of the publication of Prince Harry’s scandalous biography ‘Spare’. However, the parties involved have agreed that the dukes will still own it until the end of the coronation events.
Meghan and Prince Harry were first told they would have to leave the estate just a day after the Duke of Sussex’s autobiography was published.
Harry’s memoir included several attacks on senior members of the royal family, including King Charles’ wife Camilla.
The Duke of Sussex is believed to have publicly crossed the royal red line by criticizing his stepmother.
A spokesman for Harry and Meghan confirmed the couple had been asked to leave their official home in the UK, saying: “We can confirm that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been asked to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”
Leading members of the monarchy, such as Camilla, Prince William and the Princess of Wales, support the king’s decision.
Omid Scobie, a royal commentator close to Meghan and Harry, has indicated that the eviction of the Sussexes from Frogmore Cottage is considered a “cruel final punishment” by King Charles.
Frogmore Cottage became the couple’s official residence after Harry and Meghan left Kensington Palace to set up their own family home. It was given to them at their wedding by Queen Elizabeth II. In 2020, it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who left the royal palace, had repaid £2.4 million of taxpayers’ money used to renovate Frogmore Cottage. In the 18th century building, located near Windsor Castle, five apartments have been reunited into one single dwelling.
After moving to California, the Sussexes have rarely used their royal residence.
When the couple and their children came for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee last summer, they stayed at Frogmore Cottage, where their daughter Lilibeth’s first birthday was also celebrated.
