CHU Gabriel Touré: an indefinite strike with serious consequences

The Gabriel Touré Hospital and University Center is idling. For good reason, an indefinite strike by doctors, por non satisfaction of their grievances. The patients, the first victims of this work stoppage, cry out in dismay.

The indefinite strike at the CHU Gabriel Touré began this Monday, February 27. On the spot, the patients and accompanying persons do not hide their frustration. Normal consultations are no longer possible. Only emergency cases are taken care of. The entrance office of the Gabriel Touré hospital, usually full, is almost empty. At 10 a.m. on Monday, there was no control. Indeed, since the beginning of the strike, the patients have paid a high price if we rely on the various testimonies even if it is difficult to establish figures. At the heart of the standoff between the doctors lined up behind their union and the government, the users no longer know which way to turn. Many expressed their dismay and begged for a quick solution to end the strike.

The union committees of the hospital accuse the director general of the hospital Gabriel Touré of having contempt for them. Since, according to union officials, the latter, through his repetitive actions, hinders freedom of association. Also, they believe that there is a failure to respect the commitments made by the Government in relation to the protocols signed with the union committees of the CHU Gabriel Touré. In the process, a meeting of the office of the union committee was held this afternoon, before a press conference tomorrow which will take place at the labor exchange.
