Sunat: from this month it will be possible to pay tax obligations via Yape – News from Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru

Within the framework of facilitating compliance with tax and customs obligations, the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) announced that from the middle of this month the Yape virtual wallet will be included as a tax payment service.

This service will simplify the payment process, saving time for users and Sunat’s own processes.

Due to the current characteristics of this service, only maximum payments of 500 soles will be allowed, due to this, the main beneficiaries will be the taxpayers who are responsible for paying low amounts of taxes.

“For example, Yape could be used:

  • taxes and fines
  • General Sales Tax (IGV), 3rd Category Income Tax of the General Regime, Mype Regime and Special Regime (Virtual Form 621)
  • Income Tax of the 2nd category for alienation of real estate (Virtual Form 1665), 4th Category (Independent Workers – Virtual Form 616)
  • Installment fee for installment and refinancing
  • Payment of installments and refinancing installments
  • Amounts to pay consigned in the PDT
  • repatriation of capital
  • Payment of securities from the SOL mailbox
  • Paid of taxes (1662) APP (Android/IOS).

Additionally, taking into account the upcoming 2022 Income Campaign, natural persons could consider Yape as an additional means of payment for the regularization to be determined, once the declaration is filed using Virtual Form 709.

The Sunat indicated that in recent years electronic channels have been used to a greater extent to make the payment of tax and customs obligations.

While as of December 2021, 67.9% of all tax payments were made using virtual means, this indicator stood at 70.8% at the end of December last year, while between January and February 2023 the Payment virtualization remains above 70%, on average, with a growing trend.
