11 Dengue Cases Found Over Two Months

TAMIANG LAYANG-Eleven cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) were found during the period January – February 2023 in East Barito Regency (Bartim). The disease caused by a virus due to mosquito bites is a serious concern in handling and technical prevention by local governments so that it does not spread widely.

Head of the Bartim Health Service (Dinkes) Dr. Jimmi WS Hutagalung said that the 11 dengue cases were mostly in Dusun Tengah District with seven cases.

While one case each in East Hamlet, Benua Lima, Pematang Karau, and Raren Batuah. “None of the eleven cases of dengue fever died,” said Jimmi.

According to him, treatment has been carried out so that the disease is not contagious. The officers immediately fogged or sprayed the houses of the infected residents.

The former Director of the RSUD explained that DHF cases are a regular occurrence every year because a number of East Barito areas are mapped as endemic areas.

The emergence of this quite dangerous disease has also occurred since the end and beginning of the year due to high rain intensity.

“We urge the public to really implement 3M (drain, close, bury) water reservoirs, in addition to cultivating a healthy life,” said Jimmi.

While adding, officers in eleven scattered health centers have also been instructed to intensively disseminate information to the public regarding health promotion.

One of them is prevention and first treatment if residents are infected with DHF. (log/me)
