The departure already seemed to indicate that everything would not be so smooth this time. Due to a late visa application, Janda’s wife Alice and their daughters had to fly to Miami a week early.
“On the flight to Washington, they examined my guitar for a very long time during the inspection. They also did various tests on her, maybe they were finding out if I was carrying drugs in her. When they made sure that it wasn’t, they only let us go,” Janda said about the problem that caused him to miss the flight.
“They ran to the departure gate at the last minute and the attendant closed it right in front of them. So they had to take another plane. And the suitcase was delivered to him the next day,” added his wife Alice.
Janda returned to the USA after a year and was once again a welcome guest among his Czech compatriots. All the stops in Miami, Sarasota, Washington, Higstown and New York were sold out. The tour ended on Saturday at the Czech National Building in New York.
Now Janda returns home, where the continuation of the 60th anniversary tour of his group Olympic awaits him. The culmination of the entire series will be a concert in Prague’s O2 arena, which will take place on December 18.
