They found a treasure, Formula 1, in an abandoned farm

Thirty-seven-year-old Briton Colin Hodson has been crawling through abandoned houses for 20 years. And his greatest passion is discovering old cars in such houses. It is no wonder that he rates the current discovery as one of the most successful in his entire career.

He managed to discover a real rarity on an abandoned farm. A true racing formula. There is a Ferrari emblem stuck on the monopost, but it is probably not a real Ferrari. In fact, it will most likely be the Dallara F191 model, which was driven by the Italian driver Andrea de Cesaris at the turn of the 80s and 90s.

De Cesaris had a reputation as a fast but wild rider. Of the 208 F1 races he entered, he did not win a single one. The formula that the British YouTuber found will probably be one of the test models that the Italian tested in Britain. However, the rider will not tell us how he got to the remote and abandoned farm, as he died in 2014 at the age of 55.

Currently, every car in the formula is carefully guarded. That you would discover the formula in the barn behind the house is practically out of the question. Although the rules were considerably more relaxed in the 1990s, even then, formula cars were not commonly found lying around the farms.

Perhaps the exact location of the farm would help clarify the find, but the finder does not want to share it. One of the principles of urbex is a simple lesson: “Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but traces”. Unfortunately, as the hobby becomes more popular among the general public, following this rule becomes more and more problematic.

“Unfortunately, it’s hard to trust people these days, so I only keep a really narrow circle of friends to whom I confide the location of my finds,” admits the YouTuber, who has already climbed hundreds of different objects. “I try to leave all the objects I visit in the same state in which I discovered them. I wish everyone would do that,” he concludes.
