Thousands have pledged that they will continue to serve in the reserves: “Leave the army out of the political game”

Over the past weekend, over 5,000 reservists in all units of the IDF signed a petition in which they pledged that they would not stop serving in the reserves – this was in response to the recent refusal statements they received on a central stage around the protest against the legal reform.

The initiators of the petition, Ehud Azriel Meir, Oded HaRosh, Yotam Peretz and Meir Liush – all soldiers in the military – wrote: “We, reservists in the present, from all sections of the nation, from all ranks and ranks, and from all social and political spectrums, continue and will continue to serve as reservists in the Israel Defense Forces , despite the existing disputes in civil society, out of a sense of mission and recognition of the importance of protecting the homeland. Because we don’t have another people – and we don’t have another country.”

Within two days, thousands of reserve servants signed the association, which proves, according to the initiators, that the calls to refuse are the property of a minority, and there is a wide consensus in leaving the reserves out of the political discussion. “A few friends, reservists, from the right and the left, religious and not, have organized themselves – with zero funding, net good will. The message is simple: leave the army out of the political game! We will always serve in the reserves, regardless of politics, and this is what we expect from all the people of Israel.” Oded Harosh, one of the organizers of the petition, noted.

“We are witnessing more and more serving in the reserves, including those who are opposed to the reform, who are not ready to be dragged into refusal and political exploitation of the reserves,” according to Meir Liush, one of the organizers of the petition. Liush added that “at this time, when the refusal to serve is only increasing, now is the time to do it. Despite the cancer, I asked to return and volunteer in the reserves. Right now. I was surprised by the strength of the support and mobilization, but this proves only one thing – the refusers are alone in their refusal. The people of Israel continue to serve the State of Israel!”
