Kochi: The smoke from Brahmapuram is spreading to more parts of Kochi. The situation is severe in Kalur, Palarivattam, Vythila, Kundanur and Maradu areas. Actress Sajitha Mathil wrote on Facebook that the flat was full of smoke and the smoke was invisible around the night. She asked if there is no permanent solution to this in this civilized and cultural Kerala. The actress also shared a picture of the smoky atmosphere outside the flat.
Meanwhile, Industries Minister P. Rajeev informed that the fire at Brahmapuram waste treatment center is under control. The fire may be completely extinguished by evening. A special coordination committee will be formed to evaluate the activities at Brahmapuram. The minister also said that a special system will be introduced under the leadership of the collector to resume garbage removal.
Health Minister Veena George said that no serious health problems have been reported due to breathing smoke from Brahmapuram and there is no need to worry. The minister also stated that all necessary facilities have been provided for treatment in case anyone falls ill due to inhaling the smoke.
