Richard Lewis reveals when Counter-Strike 2 will be released

Valve plans to move Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to the Source 2 engine as early as March 2023. It is noted that, most likely, it will be a new game that will be released under the name Counter-Strike 2. This was reported by journalist Richard Lewis, citing sources familiar with the development of the shooter. However, there have been no official announcements yet.

According to Lewis, Valve plans to release not a full, but a beta version of Counter-Strike 2. As a last resort, its release may take place on April 1st. Sources say that in the version of the game on Source 2, all servers will support the 128 tick rate, which hosts tournaments in CS: GO – in matchmaking, games are played on servers with a tick rate of 64.

The first rumors that the developers will release CS:GO on Source 2 appeared in the spring of 2020. At the end of February 2023, more and more evidence began to appear that Valve would soon transfer the shooter to Source 2 – for example, NVIDIA released a new driver for video cards for the Counter-Strike 2 game.
