Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife sitting in the room last year. The actor walked on stage and gave Rock a right. Smith apologized a day later and is not allowed to attend the Oscars for ten years as punishment. Chris Rock has barely commented on the incident since then.

Until now, because Rock came back to it extensively last night in the live broadcast stand-up comedy show Selective Outrage on Netflix. “I’m trying to do a show tonight without offending anyone,” he began, adding, “Because you never know who might be triggered,” referring to Wil Smith at the Oscars.
“You guys know what happened to me. Getting hit by ‘suge’ Smith,” he remarked. “Everybody knows it. Everybody fucking knows it… I got punched at the Oscars by this asshole and people were like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I’ve got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears!”, referring to this song by Smith:
“But I’m not a victim. You’ll never see me cry at Oprah or Gayle. You’ll never see it,” he said. “It’s never going to happen. Fuck that shit. I took that punch like Pacquiao (former boxer, ed.), asshole. I took it as Pacquiao, okay? Shit, dude. Did it hurt? Yeah, asshole. It hurt.”
Rock accused Smith of “selective outrage” by punching him. He was talking about the marital problems that Smith and his wife Pinkett discussed publicly. Pinkett Smith admitted to having an affair. Rock: “She hurt him way more than he hurt me.”
Rock said he saw Will Smith’s movie Emancipation, a movie about slavery. He joked that he was cheering when he saw Smith get beat up in the movie. ‘One more time, one more time. You didn’t hit him everywhere,” Rock allegedly yelled at a fight scene in the movie.
Don’t hit back
Rock ended his show saying why he didn’t fight back when Smith hit him. “You know what my parents taught me? Never fight in front of white people.”
Reuters news agency reports that Will Smith did not respond to a request for comment on Rock’s show.
