M 106 & NGC 4217
Despite its placid appearance, Messier 106 has an unusually energetic resident. At the heart of the galaxy is a supermassive black hole – about 40 million times the mass of our Sun. M106 is about 23 million light-years from Earth. Although it measures over 130,000 light-years from edge to edge, the vast distance between it and the Milky Way makes Messier 106 look small from Earth. some of them can also be seen through the thin disk of Messier 106. Interestingly, the two small twin galaxies NGC 4232 and NGC4231 are 333 million light years away. The second largest galaxy in the image is located 60 million light years from Earth.
