It is already known from earlier materials that id Software originally intended to make a sequel to DOOM in the style of Call of Duty.
In the end, they decided on a different style, which paid off very well for them in the 2016 reboot and the Eternal sequel, but it is still worth taking a look at their original vision, which was not approved.
A leaked concept trailer dating back to 2012 shows a straight-from-play montage of what Hell on Earth was supposed to look like. More information here and here.
