The event will last until March 7 in this city, in the center of Cuba, and in the towns of Camajuaní and Remedios, the latter birthplace of Alejandro García Caturla, (March 7, 1906 – November 12, 1940), grower of Afro-Cuban music in the symphonic genre
This contest is dedicated to jazz, with the attendance as guest of honor of maestro Bobby Carcassés, National Music Award and Youth Teacher and one of the most representative exponents of this musical genre in the country.
Maestro Carcassés will hold concerts at the venues of the event and will mount exhibitions of plastic arts, of his authorship, in the Camajuaní museum and the Pórtico Gallery, of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Santa Clara.
Artists representing the Cuban provinces of Pinar del Río, Havana, Matanzas, Las Tunas, Guantánamo and Villa Clara attend the musical program.
Eliot Porta, from the organizing committee, told the press that A Tempo con Caturla will feature on this occasion the artistic talent of Dairon Ortiz, the Trovarroco trio, Sonus Ensemble, Maikel Moral and the Aguas de Mar duo, among other groups.
He also highlighted that the organizing committee of the AHS of the province of Villa Clara conceived the event to highlight and promote the work of young musicians, as well as talents inserted in artistic education.
The Arlequín meeting will take place in parallel, with the presentation of a documentary by Professor Isabel Díaz de la Torre and César Irigoyen in the Margarita Casallas Hall of the El Mejunje Cultural Center, as well as the traditional tribute to Caturla, in her native San Juan of the Remedies.
