The Minister of Labor, Marius Budai, said on Saturday that the minimum wage must continue to increase, specifying that this increase cannot be overnight because the business plans of the business environment will be ruined.

“We had a discussion at the end of December 2022, we had a Government decision, we discussed with the social partners in the Tripartite National Council, where the minimum wage was increased from 2,550 to 3,000 lei, with 200 lei within the 3,000 of untaxed lei, the state also understood to support the private sector with this measure, plus with the discussions we had with the social partners in the construction field, the salary in construction was raised from 3,000 to 4,000, I believe that the minimum wage must increase , let there be further growth, but this growth cannot be from one day to another because we are ruining the business plans of the business environment and these things must be done only through dialogue with the business environment. We’ll see this year if an increase is still opportune, from a financial point of view for employees, it certainly is, but we have to have these discussions, for now there is no problem”, said Marius Budăi for Antenna 3.

Regarding the public system payroll law, the Minister of Labor says that it is being worked on. “About the public system salary law – we are in discussions with each ministry separately, we agree to your requests, we concentrate them in a material, we do an impact analysis together with the World Bank, we have a further line of dialogue and a direction to go starting from law 153, from the analysis of law 153 after which we start the discussions with the social partners, with the trade unions because that is how it is normal to have the social partners really partners in this reform”, explained the Minister of Labor.
