Bernard Gogonou Kikissagbé, alias KGB: his property seized by the courts will be auctioned

The Beninese businessman, Bernard Gogonou Kikissagbé, alias KGB, continues to suffer the consequences of his legal setbacks. After his conditional release in August 2022, the justice ordered the auction of his property seized by the Court for the Suppression of Economic Crimes and Terrorism (Criet). According to information, this sale would mainly include furniture, buildings and a large computer park.

Recall that the KGB had been sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of 5.5 billion CFA francs for organized fraud. Following this conviction, his property had been seized and sealed by the courts. He had also been kept in detention as part of another case.

In August 2022, the KGB had been granted parole, but he had been detained for another “money laundering” case. It was not until Thursday November 10, 2022 that he was finally released after a second trial in this case.

The auction of his property seized by the courts thus marks a new difficult stage for the businessman. It remains to be seen whether this sale will cover the costs of his conviction or whether the KGB will face other financial consequences of its actions.
