Teatro Comunale di Alessandria ready by 2026: there are five projects to choose from

ALEXANDRIA. The date long awaited by the Alexandrians is now black on white: the Municipal Theater will be returned to the city by 2026. It means that, after ten years, we will have to wait another four to be able to experience the thrill of entering the foyer in evening dress again to attend a top-level show.

And all this because the Municipality has confirmed that the first phase of the design competition has finally been concluded: the five proposals that could be developed in the second phase were selected by the evaluation commission. At the end of July, the winning project will be identified, which will complete the feasibility planning and move on to the subsequent phases (definitive and executive). «The work has already found the necessary funding, 10 million euros, and therefore, once the project has been identified and entrusted, the works can start immediately and be completed by 2026», assures the town hall.

«With the conclusion of the first phase, the process for the design of the new City Hall comes to life – underlined the mayor, Gianfranco Cuttica of Revigliasco -: an innovative procedure that ensures transparency and guarantees the highest quality of the design. The process that will lead us to have a new Theater in 2026 that will change and develop the cultural life of the city in an extraordinary way is therefore proceeding rapidly. A turning point for which we are already preparing also through the work of development and growth of the theater audience, which is already underway, and which will lead, when the structure is completed, to guarantee the managerial and economic balance of a extraordinary machine of culture.

The procedure guarantees maximum transparency and reliability in this sense: the name of the winner will be disclosed only after the choice of the project, thus overturning the traditional method. All twelve, however, will be the subject of an exhibition.
