Al-Tashani apologizes for the cartoon, and censorship opens an investigation

The Director General of the National Libya Channel, Awatef Al-Tashani, apologized to the Libyan people and the Libyan family for the grave mistake that the channel made by broadcasting an animated scene that violates values ​​and offends modesty.

Al-Tashani explained in a statement that what happened was an unintended professional error, confirming that she assumed her full responsibilities in her capacity as the first responsible for the channel, noting that there was no justification for making this mistake.

Al-Tashani reaffirmed the commitment of Al-Wataniya channel, Al-Watan channel, the Libyan family channel, to preserving the values, authenticity, customs and traditions of Libya.

It is noteworthy that the incident of broadcasting the animation sparked controversy and wide reactions.

Earlier, Al-Tashani directed the director of the channel’s program department to immediately investigate the incident and refer the employees responsible for monitoring this program and those involved in its broadcasting process to the Disciplinary Council in order to take the necessary legal measures.

Meanwhile, the Administrative Control Authority announced that it had initiated an investigation into the facts of children’s cartoons that were broadcast on Al-Wataniya channel, which contained some scenes that violate public morals, the teachings of the true Islamic religion, and the customs and traditions of society.

The authority stated that after summoning officials of Al-Wataniya channel and interrogating them, the results resulted in the responsibility of the director of program management and the head of the daily scheduling section of the radio map.

The Administrative Control Authority noted that it will take deterrent legal measures against the aforementioned and hold them criminally and disciplinary accountable for this incident.
