MADRID, 3 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
King Charles III of the United Kingdom will visit France and Germany at the end of the month on his first trip abroad since he ascended the throne in September 2022, Buckingham Palace reported this Friday.
The British monarch will “celebrate the UK’s relations with France and Germany, emphasizing shared history, culture and values.”
The trip will start on March 26 in France and will continue on the 29 in Germany, with stops in Berlin and Hamburg. The German president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will offer a state dinner in honor of Carlos III, an example of “friendship” between their respective countries.
“This visit is even more special because the king has decided to come to Germany before his coronation”, which is scheduled for May 6, emphasized Steinmeier, in a statement in which he recalled that the last time he saw Carlos III It was at the funeral of his mother, Elizabeth II.
The German Presidency has also valued the election of France and Germany as “an important European gesture” by the king. “Even after Brexit, we in Germany and in Europe want to have close and friendly relations with the UK,” Steinmeier said.
