Around $1,000,000,000 in works executed by the Municipality of Chillán to prepare for the start of the 2023 School Year, in kindergartens, schools and municipal high schools, which is part of a broad investment plan to improve educational infrastructure.
Mayor Camilo Benavente Jiménez stressed that “the projects are intended to make important changes to improve the habitability of educational units for both students and staff in general.”
The authority, within the framework of the beginning of the Municipal School Year 2023, visited the Gabriela school and the Tejitas de El Tejar kindergarten, which have undergone major structural changes.
One of the largest works corresponds to the Gabriela Mistral school, where the multi-court was renovated, which was an old aspiration of the educational unit, in addition to the replacement of three classrooms that are already fully operational.
Important works were also carried out in the Mexico school. In this case, the investment that amounted to about $38,000,000 was aimed at repairing the establishment’s kitchen.
Another relevant work that is currently underway benefits the Antonio Machado school, where some $140,000,000 is invested for the normalization of the educational unit.
In the Luz de Kerubiel kindergarten, the DAEM invests almost $50,000,000 for its normalization.
In the short term, major works for $281,915,879 will begin at the Arturo Mutizabal school to carry out various initiatives aimed at improving the facilities.
In total, the mayor highlighted, “municipal investments for remodeling, conservation, perimeter closures, electrical sanitation and other tasks amount to almost $1,000,000,000, which accounts for the priority that Education has in our administration.”
The director of Education, Marco Aguilera Marchant, highlighted that in the Tejitas garden “there was a complete renovation of the infrastructure to which is added equipment, air conditioning and other works that led to the official recognition of the garden by the Ministry of Education” .
Aguilera, stressed that “for this year 2023 the municipal education system is committed not only to the educational infrastructure, but also to the recovery of learning, maintaining school coexistence, promoting healthy environments, among many other challenges.”
