a woman was arrested after fatally stabbing her brother in Lauderhill

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of her brother in Lauderhill, local authorities say.

Lauderhill Police confirmed that Vanessa Daley has been arrested on a manslaughter charge.

According to authorities, officers responded to a home in the 2700 block of Northwest 58th Terrace shortly after 8:00 a.m. Thursday and they found an unconscious man who had been stabbed multiple times.

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Andrew Daley, was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he sadly died.

Police said Vanessa Daley left the scene but was found a block away where officers stopped her.

Local schools were temporarily closed during the investigation.

As of now, the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation. Police are asking the community for anyone with more information about the case to call them at 954-497-4700.

In other developments, a Virginia man convicted of the murder of his five-month-pregnant girlfriend, who was never found, hid her body in a trash compactor, authorities now say.

Bethany Anne Decker, a former George Mason University student, was 21 when she disappeared from her apartment in Loudoun County, Virginia, in January 2011. Her body was never found, but it was learned during a sentencing hearing in a Leesburg court on Tuesday, February 21, that her boyfriend, Ronald Roldan, disposed of the body.according to FOX 5 Washington DC.

This was the first time Decker’s family members learned what happened to the victim’s body.

Roldan pleaded guilty in November 2022 to killing Decker and Judge Alfred Swersky sentenced him to 40 years behind bars this Tuesday, February 21, 2023. As he confessed, the final sentence was finally 12 and a half years, according to WUSA9result of the plea agreement that includes the admission of murder.

“On behalf of Loudoun County and our office, I extend my deepest condolences to the Bethany Decker family. We appreciate her patience and support from her,” said Buta Biberaj, Commonwealth Attorney.

“We are grateful for the efforts of Detective Mark Bush and our partnership with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Our offices put in thousands of hours, including nights and weekends, to build the best case possible, which led to this resolution. We are proud to do justice for Bethany, ”he argued.

According to the report, Decker first disappeared on Jan. 29, 2011, and it wasn’t until November 2020 that Loudoun County deputies announced plans to charge Roldan with kidnapping. That charge was later upgraded to second degree murder.

Roldan was serving time in North Carolina for another domestic incident when he was charged in connection with Decker’s disappearance and death. He was flown back to Virginia for sentencing, reported FOX 5.

Prosecutors said Roldan never called 911 or tried to save his life, WUSA reported. Family members described Roldan as abusive. and the victim’s grandmother, Evelyn Bayles, said the family was concerned that Roldan was “very controlling, and that included threatening her and our family,” it reported.
