The result of a poll that showed the Democratic Party’s approval rating in the 20% range came out. In a Gallup Korea poll, the approval rating for the Democratic Party fell by double digits in Seoul, Honam, and those in their 40s compared to last week. It is the first time in eight months since the end of June last year that the approval rating of the Democratic Party fell below 30%.

The power of the people rose by 2 percentage points from last week, and the Democratic Party fell by 5 percentage points, widening the gap between the two parties to 10 percentage points. In the Gallup survey, the gap between the two parties widened to double digits and the Democratic Party’s approval rating fell below 30% in eight months since the end of June last year (41% of the people’s strength, 28% of the Democratic Party’s).

In particular, the approval rating of the Democratic Party fell by double digits in Seoul, Honam, and those in their 40s. Last week, the approval rating in Seoul was 34%, but this time it fell 13 percentage points to 21%. Honam fell 14 percentage points from 65% last week to 51%. Those in their 40s recorded 39%, down 10 percentage points from the previous week (49%).

Gallup analyzed, “It seems to be unrelated to the topicality of the people’s power ahead of the party convention and the turbulence of the Democratic Party before and after the vote on the motion to arrest Lee Jae-myung.”

The positive evaluation of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s job performance was 36%, down 1 percentage point from last week. The negative rating also showed a decrease of 1 percentage point from last week to 55%.

The reason for the positive evaluation was ‘union response’ (21%), the most common answer. The reason for the negative evaluation was ‘economy, people’s livelihood, and prices’, which ranked first with 14%. ‘Greetings’ rose to second place for reasons of negative evaluation. Gallup explained, “It appears to be influenced by the appointment or cancellation of the head of the National Investigation Headquarters Chung Soon-shin.”
