Garmin waited until most of the hype at MWC in Barcelona died down before announcing a new pair of smartwatches. It belongs to the Forerunner series (aka “For a runner”), but these models have long not only had functions for those who like to run, but a whole set of comprehensive modes and meters. The Forerunner 265 belongs to the middle class, while the Forerunner 965 is a higher class watch. Both models are connected by the used AMOLED display, which guarantees excellent readability even in direct sunlight.

Watches Forerunner 265 is offered in two variants. The smaller version with the letter “S” at the end has dimensions of 42 mm, the larger variant received a 46 mm polymer body. Both have a touchscreen AMOLED display, which is a big change for “double”, traditionally transreflective, Garmins. The smaller model has a 1.1-inch display (360 × 360 pixels), the larger one has a 1.3″ display (416 × 416 pixels). In both cases, the body has a 5 ATM resistance, and the display is covered by Gorilla Glass 3.

You can get up to 15 days on a single charge for the smaller version, and two days less for the larger version. The watch inherited a complete set of measurements from the older Forerunner 255. In addition, it is equipped with “Readiness for training” or the Running Dynamics function, which records the details of your running style. In this way, you will learn the length of the step, the height and the time of the rebound or the share of the cheap and right leg in the total performance. And all this directly from the watch without any additional accessories.
Finally, the watch comes with a headphone music player as standard, which plays from the watch’s 8GB memory as well as from streaming services (Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music). In the equipment of the watch you will also find training modes for runners, Garmin Pay payments or VO2 Max measurement. You can also navigate with them in a simplified form, but you have to forget about displaying maps on the display. The watch also lacks other functions from more expensive models, such as Real-time Stamina or automatic measurement of ski mountaineering or profiles for golf players.
The Garmin Forerunner 265 watch will be available in the Czech Republic in March, in six color combinations. For both body sizes, the price is set at CZK 11,990.
