“I had a very difficult beginning. I don’t know how often I’ve told it. Before I went to “Painer”, I actually went to a meeting with the Kasamov brothers, I never said it, but nothing happened there, they didn’t like me. After that, I went to Slavi, because I’ve known him since I was a student, we used to share our pennies, as they say, and I wanted to go to him to see how things were going. I had just returned from abroad and had nothing to do with what was happening, but I just wanted to stay in Bulgaria. Slavi was clearly embarrassed to refuse me, but nothing happened that didn’t hurt me, didn’t offend me. I just decided that I’m not for that,” the singer tells the Fan TV camera.
Esile Duran is adamant that vicissitudes motivate her and she doesn’t give up if she doesn’t get something the first time.
“I like it very much when they say “no” to me! This motivates me tremendously – something terrible happens. After that, Reni introduced me to Mitko Dimitrov. Interestingly, he was not enthusiastic either. I think that the problem of all these people, because they already knew the genre, it was my culture. They are very good psychologists, they knew that I was from a slightly different dough – they knew where I had been. There was no way that would work in pop-folk” – explains the performer and adds further:
“Apart from everything else, I didn’t have a luscious bust, I had a lot of things that clearly bothered them in my vision. The singing of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston simply refused them, because a different mentality was needed in pop folk”.
