Former undisputed UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has revealed he needed medical treatment following his loss to Alex Pereira.
Israel Adesanya, current contender for the No. 1 middleweight title, is about to face his longtime rival, Alex Pereira, for the umpteenth time. The pair will battle it out for the belt next month in Miami, Florida at the main event from UFC 287.
Last November, at UFC 281, Israel Adesanya suffered a fifth-round TKO loss to his nemesis. Although he dominated Pereira for the majority of the clash, the Nigerian was picked off by the power of the Brazilian in the final moments. This was the ‘Last Stylebender”s first loss in the middleweight category. Also, it marked a third loss to ‘Poatan’, who had beaten Adesanya twice in kickboxing before.
During a recent interview, Israel Adesanya revealed that he had medical intervention after his loss to Alex Pereira last November. The former king of middleweights also highlighted the effectiveness of low kicks of the Brazilian.
“I had a medical intervention”
« I had a medical procedure after UFC 281“, explained Israel Adesanya to “Combat TV”. ” Not just because of the fight itself. I had a pre-existing thing that I had to sort out. Everyone gets into a fight with something. There is always something because of the way we train.«
« The fight was going my way“said Israel Adesanya. ” Alex Pereira hit my peroneal nerve which is why my footwork was compromised. When I tripped and rolled backwards to get up, I was like ‘f*ck’. I just tripped and it doesn’t look like me. So, kudos to you for investing in those calf kicks. Yeah, it cost me.«
Before falling to Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya successfully defended his title against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier. On April 9 at UFC 287, ‘Izzy’ will do anything to get her due. However, he will have a hard time dealing with Alex Pereira, who sent him a chilling message as the revenge approaches.
Do you think Israel Adesanya will get his title back?
