The New Chapter of Mother’s Struggle in Ciputat was Paralyzed After Caesar

Jakarta

A woman named Yuliantika was paralyzed after undergoing surgery caesar in one of the hospitals (RS) in Ciputat, South Tangerang. Yuliantika suspected that there was malpractice at the hospital.

Finally, Yuliantika, through her attorney, complained about the alleged violation of discipline at the hospital to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). Yuliantika’s attorney from the Lokataru Law and Human Rights Office, Sri Suparyati, said that this was the second complaint.

The first complaint was submitted in 2020. At that time the hospital immediately responded and was ready to take responsibility.

But until now the hospital has not realized that responsibility. Yuliantika’s condition was even worse.

“We, from Lokataru, intend to come today to report an alleged malpractice and an alleged violation of the code of ethics by a doctor at a hospital in Ciputat,” said Sri Suparyati, when met at the RI Ministry of Health’s office, Thursday (2/3/2023).

Yuliantika’s party is now just waiting for the Ministry of Health’s response to facilitate mediation with the hospital.

Deteriorating Health

Yuliantika’s current health condition is said to be getting worse. She could only lie down and couldn’t take care of her baby since it was born three years ago. She also can no longer serve her husband.

“Yesterday I last saw him. His current condition is that there are new diseases, such as a hole in the back, then other diseases appear such as kidney and others, because he has slept too long for 3 years. He can’t go anywhere. So all this time he has been treated at home, personal expenses and so on,” said another member of the Lokataru legal team, Tomy Ramdhani.

Alleged Violation of Discipline

Yuliantika’s attorney, Sri Suparyati, revealed that there had been a breach of discipline due to the administration of 12 anesthetic injections to Yuliantika. This, according to Sri, was revealed from a copy of the decision of the Indonesian Medical Honorary Disciplinary Council (MKDKI).

In a copy of the MKDKI decision received detikcom through Sri Suparyati, it was stated that the defendant was declared to have committed a disciplinary violation because he administered anesthesia repeatedly.

“Declaring that regarding the Main Complaint regarding the repeated injection of spinal anesthesia by the Respondent to the Patient a violation of the discipline of the medical profession was found as stipulated in Article 3 paragraph (2) letter f of the Indonesian Medical Council Regulation Number 4 of 2011 concerning the Professional Discipline of Doctors and Dentists which is contained in the Republic of Indonesia State Gazette of 2012 Number 304,” reads the MKDKI decision as seen detikcom.

The MKDKI judge then gave a sanction in the form of a written warning.

“Imposed sanctions on the Defendant on the basis of the first complaint in the form of a written warning,” read the MKDI ruling.

In a copy of the ruling, MKDI stated that Yuliantika’s paralysis did not legally and convincingly result from multiple injections. Therefore, MKDKI stated that there was no disciplinary violation committed by the Defendant.
