After nearly three months of investigation into the case of bribery of the chairman and vice-chairman of the Tainan City Council, the prosecutors prosecuted 10 people, including Speaker Chiu Lili, on the 2nd for allegedly violating the Act on the Election and Recall of Public Officials. Severe sentences are recommended. After Qiu Lili was prosecuted, she posted a brief post on Facebook calling for grievances. Earlier, Qiu Lili went to the Tainan District Court to care for Guo Zaiqin and other six people who were released on bail earlier, and shed tears of grievance.
The Tainan District Prosecutor’s Office stated on the 2nd that the 10 people who were prosecuted were Speaker Qiu Lili, Deputy Speaker Lin Zhizhan, former Democratic Progressive Party Central Executive Committee member Guo Zaiqin, Tainan City Non-Party Unity Counselor Yang Zhiqiang, City Councilor Li Wenjun and friend Huang Yiping, Tainan City Lin Shijie, Chairman of Fishermen’s Association, City Councilors Huang Lizhao, Li Zhenguo and his wife Gao Meixian.
The Tainan District Prosecutor’s Office received information on bribery in the election of the chairman and deputy speaker in November last year, and immediately divided the case. The chief prosecutor and prosecutors of the black money inspection team formed a special team to actively investigate and handle it. On January 3, the prosecutor of the special team commanded the Ministry of Justice 122 people from Tainan City Investigation Division and Kaohsiung Investigation Division of the Bureau of Investigation, divided into 26 routes, went to the residences of Speaker Chiu Lili, Deputy Speaker Lin Zhizhan, City Councilors Li Wenjun, Huang Lizhao, Zhang Shixian, Li Zhenguo and others, as well as related persons involved Yang Zhiqiang, Guo Zaiqin, Lin Shijie And Huang Yiping and others searched for their residences.
The prosecution pointed out that during the investigation period, they successively applied to the court to detain Guo Zaqin, Yang Zhiqiang, Huang Yiping, Lin Shijie, city councilors Li Wenjun, Huang Lizhao, etc.

On the afternoon of the 2nd, the Taichung District Prosecutor’s Office transferred six people including Guo Zaiqin, who were in custody, to trial. After interrogation by the judge of the Tainan District Court, Guo Zaiqin was informed in the evening of 3 million bail, Lin Shijie and Yang Zhiqiang 2 million bail, Li Wenjun and Huang Lizhao 1 million bail, and Huang Yiping 500,000. On bail, all 6 people are restricted to live in, and Qiu Lili also appeared at the gate of the courtyard at night, and she couldn’t stop crying when she saw the waiting media, and shed tears of grievance in front of the camera.
