Dandrawi said: “Excuse me when it comes to rape and sexual assault, not just once, but more than once, and when a person is convicted of rape and court rulings have been issued against him, there is no impartiality, and the only description is that this person is a rapist, convicted by law and sentenced by law, and there is Victims whose tragedy we cannot ignore, as if what they went through was not important, and when the verdict is appealed or an acquittal is issued against him, I will be the first to deal with the news.
The Moroccan singer, who was tried last week before the Paris Criminal Court on charges of rape, appealed against the six-year prison sentence, according to what his lawyer and a judicial source announced on Tuesday.
“Given his assertion of innocence, Saad Lamjarred appealed today,” the singer’s lawyers, Thierry Herzog and Jean-Marc Vidida, told AFP.
In the ruling issued on Friday, the Criminal Court in Paris expressed its “conviction” of the occurrence of the rape, which was described by the plaintiff, Laura B. In the lawsuit she filed “in a consistent and accurate manner.”
The plaintiff told the court that Saad Lamjarred, whom she met in a nightclub in October 2016, had beaten and raped her in a luxury hotel room in Paris.
The famous singer was imprisoned immediately after the verdict was issued under a detention order.
