A man of origin Bolivia managed to survive alone for 31 days or a month after getting lost in Amazon forest. This 30-year-old man said he ate worms and drank rainwater to survive in the middle of a wilderness filled with wild animals.
As reported BBC, Thursday (2/3/2023), Jhonattan Acosta (30) was separated from four friends when he went hunting in northern Bolivia a month ago. He then realized lost himself and alone in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
Acosta took neither a machete nor a flashlight with him when he got lost. He was forced to use the boots he was wearing to collect rainwater so he could drink it.
Acosta said that he ate worms and insects in the forest, while hiding from wild animals, such as jaguars and peccaries, which are mammals that look like wild boars.
Acosta also said that he eats wild fruits that look like papayas, which local people call ‘gargatea’.
Acosta’s younger brother said that his older brother used the last cartridges he carried to frighten and drive away the wild animals he encountered while lost in the Amazon jungle. The younger brother also said that Acosta sprained his ankle on the fourth day he was lost in the forest.
After 31 days in the middle of the wilderness, Acosta was finally found by a search party consisting of local residents and their friends. He spotted the search party about 300 meters away and hobbled through the thorns to approach them, shouting to attract attention.
“It’s amazing, I can’t believe people have continued to search for so long,” Acosta said, while shedding tears.
