The Ukrainian authorities will decide for themselves whether the peace agreement should include a condition for the return of Crimea, said German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock. She once again stated that Germany considers Crimea the territory of Ukraine.
Ms. Burbock was asked on the air of the German channel ARD if she believes that the victory of Ukraine implies the return of Crimea to her. The minister replied that Kyiv itself had to decide under what conditions a peace agreement could be concluded, and Berlin would not interfere in this.
“And the Ukrainian president says that Crimea belongs to Ukraine. And in the end, we support Ukraine in its rights to self-defense, but this is the territory of Ukraine … Neither the German Foreign Minister nor the Federal Chancellor will tell her what to do with her country, ”she explained (quote from RIA Novosti “).
In November 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented a plan for a peaceful settlement of the military conflict. Among its points is the return to Ukraine of territories within the 1991 borders recognized by the international community. The Kremlin called these demands a refusal to negotiate. The Kremlin said this week that it still sees no prerequisites for resolving the situation in Ukraine.
