US intelligence concluded that Russia and other countries were not involved in cases of “Havana syndrome”

US intelligence found no evidence of Russia or any other countries being involved in the cases “Havana Syndrome” from American diplomats. The Associated Press writes about this, citing a report prepared as a result of a lengthy investigation. The contents of the document were told to journalists by two officials on condition of anonymity.

A full-scale investigation over the course of several years was carried out by seven US agencies and intelligence services, as part of which about 1,500 cases of “Havana syndrome” were studied in 96 countries.

About twenty cases were subjected to particularly careful evaluation – in none of them was there any connection with the deliberate actions of states unfriendly to the United States. On the contrary, writes AP, the investigation received “evidence that other countries were not involved in this.” Intelligence also rejected the version that the “Havana syndrome” could be caused by someone unintentionally, for example, due to the use of listening devices in American diplomatic missions.

The authors of the investigation concluded that most of the cases are caused by various reasons – from hidden diseases to electromagnetic exposure from common devices used in everyday life.

For the first time, employees of the US Embassy in Cuba encountered the “Havana syndrome” in 2016. Later, similar cases began to be recorded regularly in other countries; in 2021, American diplomats in a NATO country first complained about the “Havana syndrome” – this happened in Germany.

Since at least 2018, the media have been writing that US intelligence agencies suspect Russia’s involvement in the “Havana syndrome”. Officially, Washington has never made any claims to Moscow in this regard.
