Martijn wanted to be linked to Paula in MAFS

After the couples have to talk about their marriage with the experts all day long and also get a dance lesson from Euvgenia Parakhina, it’s time for a party at night. The couples can let loose for a while. But when the atmosphere is just right, two old acquaintances drop by: Martijn and Nicole.

“I’m really looking forward to going in. I’m curious about their faces. I find it exciting,” says the flamboyant Martijn. The men still know Martijn from the day they are told that they are participating in the program. But not everyone knows him; Patricia and Stephan, for example, who are allowed to participate in the wedding show precisely because of the departure of Martijn and Nicole.

Stephan soon has nothing to do with Martijn. “Authoritarian, attitude from here to Tokyo and I thought: who the dot dot are you?” Understandable, because Martijn soon tries to get a kiss from Patricia, who doesn’t give it to him. “Normally you can take a lot more, but you are a lot more unstable because of everything you go through,” Stephan explains his jealousy. “Then a figure like that comes in and then I think: I’m leaving or else…”

Stephan is sitting quietly in the corner at one point. “Patricia is someone who is very good with people and she has fun with him in one way or another,” he says about Martijn. Stephan also knows that Martijn can’t help it. “But something inside me says red flag situation.” Patricia confronts her husband about his changed behavior. “I saw it right away that he withdrew,” she says later.

Stephan bursts into tears in the room. “I can’t explain it. It’s been so long since anyone did this to me. And again, he can’t help it. Somehow something comes up.” Patricia thinks that has to do with the past. “We’ve all had things from the past: insecurity, being bullied, I don’t know what. But if you pick up on that, that feeling comes up.”

Soon Nicole also arrives at the villa. “Would you like to see Martijn? If he tells the story honestly for once, I’m fine with it. The fact remains that he is not honest about what happened. And I find that hurtful to me. He actually puts me in a bad daylight.” Fortunately, Nicole is warmly welcomed by the ladies who have missed her.

Paula meanwhile gets along with Martijn. “We don’t know all the stories,” she explains about the broken marriage between him and Nicole. Of course, Paula recognizes some things, since her marriage to Remco is not going smoothly either. “Just like with us: if the click is not there…” Martijn reveals to Paula that he would not have spoken to Nicole if he had met her in the pub.

He does find it extremely disappointing that his marriage has collapsed. “When I see them all like this, I see all good matches. And then I think: too bad, I could have been here with my loved one. But yes, I was not allowed to,” he says on camera. He says to Maarten: “They should have turned it around. They should have linked Paula to me and Nicole to Remco. Then it would have been done.” Maarten indicates that this is still possible now that both marriages have ended. “No, that will be fine, dude”, Martijn laughs.

Nicole soon finishes the party. “I expected it. He’s a flirt.” When she says goodbye to the group standing with Martijn, she says: “You can stop lying, that would be nice.” Martijn does not respond and says: “This liar says hello again. Thank you for coming.” A little later, Martijn also leaves. “I’m sorry I can’t stay. I really enjoyed it.”
