The ‘Dibu’ affirmed that his next objective is to win a UEFA Champions League, since he feels with a sufficient level to fight for the coveted continental trophy.

“I’m still hungry, I want to win the Champions League,” said the Argentine goalkeeper. Martínez knows that, in order to compete for a European Cup, he first has to jump to an important team from the old continent and this will be easier if he shows a good level in his current team.

“I would like to win a title with Aston Villa, but it is difficult because the club is still growing. I have the feeling that today I have the level to play in the Champions League and try to win it, ”he said.

Despite his good intentions, Emiliano Martínez’s jump to an important team is not yet close, because currently, the Argentine goalkeeper is one of the goalkeepers with the most goals in the Premier League.

Another aspect that has caused controversy is the character of Martínez, since he has been accused of being a provocative and ‘mocking’ player, a situation that, according to the guidelines of some large clubs in Europe, is a major problem in order to sign him.

Despite this, Emiliano Martínez does not lose hope of reaching a club that is fighting to win the Champions League, because after winning the Copa América and the World Cup with Argentina, he now wants to continue achieving success at the club level.

The ‘Dibu’ was named, by FIFA, ‘Best Goalkeeper in the World’, during the ‘The Best’ awards ceremony. Martínez received the award from him that accredits him as the best goalkeeper of 2022 for his great performance in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

On the other hand, in said ceremony, Lionel Scaloni and Leo Messi were also recognized as the best coach in the world and the best footballer in the world respectively.
