Former Spanish footballer Pelayo Novo Garcia, 32, lost his life on Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a train in his hometown of Oviedo, Spain.
Novo played for six seasons in Albacete, Lugo, Elche, Cordoba and Real Oviedo clubs, but he was forced to leave professional football after he fell on March 31, 2018 from the third floor of a hotel in Huesca, which prompted him to spend a long period of operations and recovery.
He remained in the hospital for paraplegics in Toledo for a while, but the serious spinal cord injuries he suffered left him on crutches forever, so he turned to tennis in a wheelchair, and was part of the current board of directors of the tennis association in his country.
The accident occurred in Oviedo, when the young man was run over by a train passing through the area. The emergency medical care service and the National Police were notified, and the case was investigated.
