Julia Faustyna, 21, claims to be the missing Maddie McCann.
Almost two weeks ago, Julia Faustyna first went public with the claim that she was Maddie McCann. “Help me, I think I could be Madeleine,” reads the Instagram account of Julia Faustyna from Poland. “I need a DNA test. Police investigators from Britain and Poland try to ignore me. I will tell my story here in posts. Help me.” The 21-year-old posted numerous photos to prove the similarity.
In the meantime, however, there are more and more doubts about the portrayal of the young Pole. The Austrian profiler Patricia Staniek, together with the forensic scientist Shariq Reza, analyzed images of the two and found: Among other things, the distance between the eyes is different, the eyebrows have a different shape and the nose is narrower. In addition, unlike Maddie Julia’s left nostril is reduced.
“Lies and Manipulations”
Now Julia’s parents have spoken for the first time. The family released a statement on the Polish Facebook page Zaginieni przed laty (Gone Years Ago): “Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and stepdaughter. We have memories, we have photos.” Of course, there should also be a birth certificate proving that the young Polish woman is not Maddie.
In the statement, the family explains that Julia has been suffering from mental health problems for a long time. However, the 21-year-old refuses treatment and medication and has recently distanced herself from her family. “We are shocked by the current situation,” the family continued. An explanation for all the “lies and manipulations” could be Julia’s desire for fame, the statement said.
British girl Maddie McCann disappeared from a holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007. To this day there is no trace of her, but her parents believe that she is still alive.
