Russian military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok reported that an extremely unpleasant incident took place near Bakhmut. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun to use a new tactic – they mine decommissioned foreign military equipment.
According to the data presented, the Ukrainian military (and most likely foreign mercenaries) mined a damaged Polish armored personnel carrier and blew it up when the Russian military tried to capture it as a trophy.
A similar tactic was used earlier by the Russian forces when they repeatedly mined the MTLBs (armored personnel carriers) and detonated them remotely when the VSU fighters approached.
“This morning, stormtroopers of the legendary 1st Slavic brigade near Bakhmut captured a trophy – a Polish armored personnel carrier. However, during their retreat, an explosion occurred. Unfortunately, there were casualties. There are two versions: either they were hit by a missile, or, more likely, the armored personnel carrier was with a “surprise” – i.e. full of explosives,” the journalist wrote in Telegram.
Previously, precisely because of the risk of such incidents, abandoned enemy military equipment was destroyed preventively. But apparently, it is already being brought home as war trophies, he added.
