A “sharp” debate and a “major” dispute in the House of Representatives!

“Lebanese Debate”

Parliamentary sources confirmed that “the reason for closing the parliamentary committee session was the outbreak of a major dispute that led to the withdrawal of major blocs from the session, which are the “Strong Republic” bloc, the “Strong Lebanon” bloc, and the “Kataeb” bloc, in addition to MP Michel Moawad.

In an interview with the “Lebanon Debate”, the sources said: “The issue of end-of-service guarantee, i.e. old age guarantee, was supposed to be discussed in the session, and it is an issue that has been postponed for years, and for an unclear reason it was removed from the agenda.”

She added, “The aim of deviating from the agenda was to discuss two items, the first related to how to prosecute those who took out money during the period of closing banks in 2019 after the October 17 revolution, and the second related to renewing the oil derivatives agreement between Lebanon and Iraq.”

And the sources continued, “There was a disagreement about the nature of the existing signatures. There are those who objected to the presence of the signature of the prime minister alone without the signatures of the rest of the ministers, and others objected, considering that a number of ministers signed, but their signatures are not present in the file that was transferred to the House of Representatives.”

She pointed out that “there was a discussion about the constitutionality of transferring such a decree to the House of Representatives, and the debate intensified, which led to the withdrawal of these blocs and the suspension of the session.”
