A new survey finds that half of Gen Z, or what is known as the post-millennial generation, regularly fill out crossword puzzles on paper with a pen even though they live in the era of mobile applications and games.
The results of the survey reveal what is considered a “coup” for generation “Z” on modern electronic games, and its falling in love with the old crossword game.
The biggest reason that young people occupy themselves with these puzzles, according to the survey, is the challenge, at a rate of 69 percent, and 65 percent of young people seek to exercise their brains.
While one in five of Generation Z youth said that solving crossword puzzles makes them feel smart, while 7 percent consider this game a family tradition.
Experts say that there is a youthful aversion to the excessive use of technology and a return to everything that is manual and simple, perhaps out of nostalgia or finding warmth by using many senses when playing.
In this regard, Ali Al-Sayed, a marketing officer and consultant for video games, told Sky News Arabia:
- This change occurred in Generation Z due to boredom.
- As a gaming consultant, I would like from time to time to break away from electronic games and play crosswords and everything that can keep me away from screens.
- Team games are no longer required since 2018.. and individual games are currently reaping awards.
For her part, the psychological consultant, Dr. Karen Elia, revealed:
- A person belongs to his environment, and change begins with the environment.. The need to belong to this environment sometimes motivates him to influence his system.
- Electronic games are starting to repeat themselves despite the change of characters, which leads to monotony.
- Going back to paper and pen and mental stimulation are important things to strengthen memory and intelligence.
- The new studies need a period of time in order to confirm their results on the new generation, and did they really decide to migrate to electronic games?
